A Recap of Our Quarterly Meeting at 100 Women of the Hill Country

I am thrilled to share with you all the outcomes of our recent quarterly meeting for 100 Women of the Hill Country, held right here in Boerne, Texas. Additionally, I can’t express enough how honored I am to be part of such a giving, community-focused organization.

Our Belief: The Power of 100

For those unfamiliar, 100 Women of the Hill Country is a local philanthropic organization based in Boerne, Texas that epitomizes the concept of “The Power of 100.” Specifically, this powerful idea is about harnessing the collective impact of our individual contributions to make a significant, transformative difference in our community. We meet quarterly to contribute to local causes, connecting personally to make a meaningful impact.

Our Mission: Local Giving, Local Impact

Our ultimate goal is to donate at least $10,000 every quarter to deserving charities that operate in the Texas Hill Country, including our beloved Boerne, Texas. To help us decide where our collective contributions should go, three local charities present their mission and work at our meetings.

Charities of the Quarter

This quarter, we had the privilege of hearing from three remarkable organizations:

  1. Blessings in a Backpack: This initiative serves all 13 schools within the Boerne Independent School District. Eligible students, from Pre-K through Grade 12, receive a bag of food every weekend that school is in session.
  2. Boerne Education Foundation: Their mission is to foster educational excellence by promoting innovative teaching. Additionally, they partner with the community to improve the quality of education in Boerne ISD.
  3. Boerne Parks Association: This group seeks to sustainably connect our present and future generations with the rich history of our area. Specifically, they do this through enhancing existing spaces and supporting new projects.

The Grant Recipient: Blessings in a Backpack

We are thrilled to announce that this quarter’s grant of $20,500 was awarded to Blessings in a Backpack. Consequently, our now 205-strong membership has allowed us to not only meet but surpass our quarterly goal. With this grant, Blessings in a Backpack will ensure no child in our community goes hungry over the weekend.
