Hal and I are honored to have been chosen to participate in the Boerne ISD Community Leadership Academy this year and to be part of the over 30 community members (out of 90 applicants) who have united with BISD Board Members and District Administration to dive deep into Boerne ISD. As parents in this community, we easily send our children to school and continue our daily lives. But when given an opportunity to dig deeper and truly understand the intricacies of the Boerne Independent School District, the experience is humbling. Being a part of this small leadership team, BISD Board Members, and District Administration in this year’s academy has not only deepened our understanding of the educational landscape but also solidified our faith in Boerne ISD.

Leadership Boerne, started in 1998, is a platform where the passion for learning meets community leadership. As participants, we’ve been exposed to the crucial issues that Boerne, its neighboring communities, and the state at large face. More so, it has provided us with a golden opportunity to give back and make impactful contributions to the community we love and belong to.

The meticulously crafted curriculum of the Leadership Boerne spans the entire nine-month traditional school year, from September to May. It comprises a series of immersive full-day classes that encompass a wide range of topics. These topics range from understanding the intricacies of accountability ratings to the pivotal roles that board members play in shaping the future of education.

However, amidst the whirlwind of activities, lectures, and field trips, there is one key takeaway that resonates the most – the undying spirit and dedication of the teachers. Beyond the realms of textbooks and classrooms, teachers in Boerne ISD are sculpting the future, one student at a time. Their impact, both profound and far-reaching, extends well beyond the walls of Boerne ISD. So, if you find a moment today, reach out and thank a teacher. Recognize them, appreciate them, for they are the unsung heroes crafting the leaders of tomorrow.

To say that we’re proud to be a part of the Boerne ISD family would be an understatement. The more we learn, the more we realize how fortunate we are to have our children in Boerne ISD. If you are considering moving to the Boerne area or are curious about the educational opportunities here, please contact us. We’d be more than happy to share our experiences, insights, and stories with you. After all, the essence of community is in sharing and growing together.
