The annular solar eclipse is almost here, and where better to witness it than the heart of the Texas Hill Country – Boerne. As the calendar inches closer to October 14th, there’s a buzz in the air.

What is an Annular Solar Eclipse?

An annular solar eclipse happens when the moon glides between the Earth and the sun, casting a temporary twilight. Yet, due to its farther distance from Earth at this time, the moon doesn’t entirely cover the sun, leaving a mesmerizing “ring of fire.” For the keen observers, mark your clocks! The partial eclipse begins at 10:20 am, with annularity from 11:51 to 11:55 am, and then concludes at 1:30 pm.

A solar eclipse is rare and you may be tempted to gaze upwards. A word of caution though – the sun, even partially covered, can be harmful to our eyes. We highly recommend grabbing a pair of eclipse viewing glasses. Your eyes will thank you.

Boerne Locals

For the Boerne locals, we are thankful to have a front row seat, but we can also anticipate a bustling few days. As we open our town to visitors, preparation is key. Think ahead. Whether it’s your weekly groceries, that pending bank visit, or the all-important gas refill, ticking off chores early will ensure a smoother ride. With the influx, anticipate longer lines, traffic, and perhaps a bit of patience with your cellular and internet connections.
